About Life Care Services

The primary focus of Life Care Services is to educate, train, and support parents to effectively address behavioral issues with their children. Many parents and caregivers struggle to find a parenting style that works best with their unique family. At Life Care we offer a variety of services that include individualized parent coaching, consulting services, and parent education workshops.

What is Parent Coaching?

At Life Care Services parent coaching is a unique approach to empower and support parents and caregivers to overcome the discipline and behavioral issues within their families. This service is for those with children who are exhibiting multiple problem behaviors and are in need of individualized family plans to assist parents in setting developmentally appropriate limits and in choosing effective discipline strategies. Parent coaching offers one-on-one parent education, training, and support. Parent coaching is available for those with children 2-17 years of age and sessions can be conducted in either the office or in the convenience of your home.

What is parent consulting?

Consulting services are offered to parents and caregivers of children 2-17 who are in need of information and instruction in dealing with specific behavioral issues such as potty training, naptime/bedtime problems, establishing general household routines, and behavioral expectations. This service is best suited for those with children who struggling to learn a new skill or simply to provide parental guidance in selecting the best approach to assist their children with a specific behavioral issue. Parent consultations are provided either in the office or home settings.

Parenting Workshops

Parenting workshops are designed to address practical parenting issues and are offered at various dates and times throughout the year. Each series addresses specific topics and offers practical information and techniques. Workshops are an affordable and convenient way to increase your parenting skills. Specific topics include: Potty Training 101, Bedtime Basics, and Positive Parenting Solutions. There are also a variety of other topics that will be available throughout each year that may include: The Challenges of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, Sibling Rivalry, Communicating with Your Teenager, Single Parenting, etc.

How to get started on your way toward more effective parenting:

1) Contact Life Care Services to set an appointment for a FREE 30-Minute Consultation.

2) During this initial consultation your parent coach will complete a brief assessment of your child and family needs and provide information and guidance in selecting the appropriate services. You will also receive a Parent Information Packet and, if applicable, links to additional resources to assist your family.

3) All fees for parent coaching and consulting are based on family income and number of dependants. This information will be provided during the initial consultation. At Life Care Services we seek to offer affordable services for all families…we can design a plan that works with your family’s budget and needs.

About the Instructor and Founder of Life Care

Nancy Miller began Life Care Services in order to offer practical help to parents who are struggling to overcome the challenges of parenting children with behavioral difficulties. She has worked with children in the mental health field for ten years in a variety of positions including: behavioral health technician (children crisis stabilization unit), mental health case manager for foster care, private nanny, and pre-school teacher. She believes the best way to help children is to educate, train, and support parents and caregivers to successfully equip their children with the skills needed to make positive behavioral choices. Nancy has a Bachelors of Arts degree in Biblical Studies/Counseling from Trinity College of Florida and a Masters degree in Clinical Counseling from Columbia International University.

FALL 2010 PARENTING WORKSHOPS

Potty Training 101: This three week series will focus on teaching the basics of potty training and offer practical solutions to common potty training challenges. Workshop discussions will include: “How and When to Begin,” “Overcoming Resistance,” and “Handling Regression and Other Potty Issues.” Workshops are geared toward children ages 2-5 and are open to parents, caregivers, and daycare/preschool teachers.

Positive Parenting Solutions: If you often question your parenting decisions, feel like your children just do not listen to you, or are confused about which discipline techniques are best for your child, then you will not want to miss this opportunity to attend Positive Parenting Solutions. This series of workshops will focus on parenting basics that will increase positive communication with your child and teach practical skills to increase positive behaviors and decrease negative behaviors. Each workshop in this series will focus on a key element of Positive Parenting and is open to parents, caregivers, and teachers with children ages 2-8.

Bedtime Solutions: If bedtime is a nightly struggle with your child or if you simply want to learn ways to help your child develop healthy sleep habits, then this is the series for you. This three week series will focus on “Developing Healthy Sleep Habits,” “Peaceful Bedtime Routines and Rituals,” and how to handle “Bedtime Bandits and Midnight Intruders.”

Cost: a $10.00 fee for each workshop is collected at the beginning of each session (for two parent families the one fee covers both parents).

and practical skills that address the everyday challenges of raising children.

Nancy Miller has worked with children in a variety of positions including behavioral health
technician, mental health case manager for foster care, private nanny care and preschool
teacher. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees in clinical counseling.
